Revitalising a Classic Californian Footwear Brand for a New Generation.

The Challenge:
Rocket Dog, a footwear brand synonymous with the laid-back California beach lifestyle, had enjoyed significant success in the early 2000s, especially among Gen X consumers. However, as the brand evolved, it faced the challenge of reconnecting with its original youth audience while also appealing to the new wave of fashion-conscious Gen Z consumers. With the launch of new styles, Rocket Dog sought to modernise its image and re-establish itself as a cultural staple for a fresh generation.
The Strategy:
Recognising the brand’s potential, we crafted a strategy to retell the Rocket Dog story, positioning it as the quintessential Y2K brand that perfectly captures the energy of the early 2000s. We capitalised on the resurgence of Y2K nostalgia—one of the most significant trends of the past five years—to engage Gen Z and millennials. Our approach combined modern storytelling with a celebration of Rocket Dog’s heritage, highlighting its California roots and iconic designs.
Execution & Results:
Our targeted gifting campaign generated buzz as some of the UK’s most influential trendsetters embraced Rocket Dog. Through authentic user-generated content (UGC) and influencer resharing, we amplified brand awareness and sparked conversations around the brand’s revitalised image.
We overhauled Rocket Dog’s social media strategy, creating content that resonated with a modern audience while staying true to the brand's core values. This included the launch of a dedicated TikTok channel, where we showcased dynamic, relatable content that reinforced Rocket Dog’s place in contemporary youth culture.
For the autumn/winter 2024 season, we produced a fresh brand photoshoot that brought a contemporary edge to Rocket Dog’s visual identity. These assets were seamlessly integrated across the website, point-of-sale (POS) materials, and social channels, ensuring a consistent, modern look without alienating the brand’s loyal customer base.
One of the campaign’s standout moments was a fully branded influencer trip to a townhouse perched on the iconic sands of Margate. The event generated hundreds of pieces of UGC, further amplifying the brand’s relevance and solidifying Rocket Dog as a force to be reckoned with in the footwear market.
